Introduction: One of the ways to achieve social justice is to ensure equal opportunities for public access to education. Educational equity in academic environments, especially universities, can significantly impact students’ morale and academic performance. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the role of educational justice in students' academic burnout.
Methods: This correlational study was conducted using stratified random sampling. A total of 420 students from Gonabad University of Medical Sciences were selected as the sample. The research tools included the validated Educational Justice Questionnaire by Golparvar and the Academic Burnout Questionnaire by Breso et al. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 22 through descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and linear regression. A p-value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant.
Results: The findings showed a significant inverse relationship between educational justice and academic burnout among students (p < 0.05). Additionally, 55.7% of students reported an undesirable level of educational justice, while 85% experienced a moderate level of academic burnout.
Conclusion: According to the results, improving educational justice can play a role in reducing academic burnout among students. Therefore, university officials should create equal educational opportunities to nurture students’ talents and enhance their motivation and efficiency by promoting educational justice.
