Effectiveness Problem-solving skills training to reduce the suicide thought of soldiers

Introduction: Suicide and attempted for that had meeting of the World Health Organization in 1996 and was a major issue in public health and anti-social behavior. This phenomenon, in addition to personal and family losses is considered a social loss. Gain knowledge about the effectiveness of teaching problem solving skills veterans’ aim of this study is the reduction of suicidal thoughts.
Methods: This research project was done within the framework of the semi experimental. Population consisted of all soldiers who have committed suicide in the Army of Tehran, was attended sampling (n = 32) in two groups of 16 subjects (test and control groups) were placed. This questionnaire suicidal ideation, Beck (BSSI) is for data analysis and covariance analysis method is used in a way.
Findings: Results showed that the mean- suicidal thoughts compared to the control group declined. Guards and police units as well as most of the suicide attempters and suicide attempts are highest in the first 12 months of service has occurred.
Conclusion: Results showed that problem-solving practices on mental health has a positive impact on soldiers. Advice, guidance and support in a military environment and internal cohesion is the important suggestions of this research to reduce suicide in the military. |
