Introduction: The present research was conducted with the aim of explaining the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy on impulsivity, rumination and self-blame individuals with trichotillomania. Methods: The method of the current research was semi-experimental with a pre-test, post-test and follow-up plan with a control group with its ethical code IR.IAU.SARI.REC.1401.240.The statistical population of this research was all those suffering from trichotillomania in districts 2 and 4 of Tehran city in 2022, among whom 18 participants were selected for each group using a non-random sampling method and were placed in two experimental and control groups in a simple random manner. The tools of this research included Barat impulsivity questionnaire by Barrat et al. (1990), Ruminative Responses Scale by Nolen Hoeksma et al. (1991) and Self-Blame Inventory by Gilbert et al. (2004).The experimental group received eight one-hour sessions of acceptance and commitment therapy, while the control group received no intervention. Data were analyzed using mixed analysis of variance (with repeated measures) and Bonferroni's post hoc test in SPSS version 26. Results: Acceptance and commitment therapyhas an effect on impulsivity, rumination and self-blame and this effect continues in the follow-up phase. Conclusion: Acceptance and commitment therapyeffectively reduces impulsivity, rumination and self-blame in individuals with trichotillomania, suggesting its potential as a valuable treatment modality for addressing psychological distress associated with this condition.
