Introduction: Efficiency and optimization of the hospital bed is one of the things that is very critical to create an efficient management. In this study, the utilization capacity of a hospital bed in a military hospital in Tehran was investigated using machine learning. Methods: The present study was carried out descriptively in 1401. By using the statistical data of the military hospital, field survey and placing it in the proposed index of this study, the utilization capacity of the hospital bed for the beds of the special care departments of the hospital (ICU1, ICU2, ICU3 and NICU) was calculated and analyzed. Results: The findings of the present study showed that the percentage of bed occupancy of the whole hospital is close to the minimum standard, but there is an obvious difference in the percentage of beds occupied by the departments, as a result, it seems that in terms of distribution between the departments taking measures to improve the percentage of bed occupancy, reduce the extra load of some departments and increase the working capacity of departments with low bed occupancy percentage. Conclusion: The proposed formula presented in this study will help managers in increasing the efficiency of the hospital by measuring the utilization of the available capacity and identifying the reasons for not using the maximum capacity to reach the optimal utilization capacity.
