Introduction: It is essential to identify the crucial factors in the prognosis of patients with COVID-19. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the main blood groups in clinical and paraclinical and outcome of patients with COVID-19.
Methods: This descriptive-cross-sectional study was conducted in 2021 in Be’sat Hospital in Tehran, Iran. In this study, patients hospitalized with COVID-19 were examined for their blood groups and Rh through five CC of peripheral blood sample, and the clinical and paraclinical findings of the patients were analyzed using Chi-square, Fisher, and t-test by SPSS-24 software. This study was approved by the ethical code number: IR.AJAUMS.REC.1399.227.
Finding: People with blood group B and RH negative had a younger age for hospitalization. The frequency of fever, weakness, cough, chest pain, dyspnea, serum ferritin level, and the mortality rate in blood group A was higher than other blood groups. RH+ patients also had higher cough, nausea, vomiting, chest pain and serum D-Dimer levels.
