The difference in human temperaments and the tendency to complexity

Introduction: the individuals’ physical and mental dissimilarities influence on their tendency towards the environmental features. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of the human individual beings distinctions, based on the classification of the temperament as comprehensive definition in the traditional medicine, on the tendency of the people towards the environmental simplicity and complexity.
Methods: this study was performed on 165 patients of the traditional medicine clinic in Tehran University. The temperament questionnaire and physical examination were used to define the temperament; also, the researcher provided questionnaire was used to evaluate the tendency towards the complexity feature in two segments of buildings and abstract pictures.to formulate the questionnaire of tendency to the complexity, all of the selected pictures was chosen based on the Delphi method and the survey of the seven graphic experts and seven architecture experts. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire examined. The data of both of the questionnaire were analyzed by the use of BMI SPSS 22 software.
Findings: totally, 100 persons with similar temperaments distribution (50 persons with cold and dry temperament and 50 persons in wet and hot temperament) completed the questionnaires. In the section of the tendency to the painting pictures, the cold and dry temperament has more tendencies towards the complex designs, in comparison to the simple designs, but in the section of the tendency towards the exterior facade of the buildings, the hot and wet temperament has more tendencies to the buildings with more complexity and mass.
Conclusion: different temperaments are interested in various degrees of complexity in choosing the paintings and exterior facade of the buildings. Based on the degree of the desired complexity and simplicity for the people with different temperaments, it is possible to create a relaxation and health-centered spaces in designing the architecture space and the urban bodies of the cities.
