Introduction: Endometriosis is a systemic endocrine, immunological and gastrointestinal disease. In the pathogenesis of endometriosis, various cellular pathways are involved. One of these pathways is autophagy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the expression of BECLINE-1 and LC3 genes in endometriosis mice following regular aerobic exercise and omega-3 intake.
Methods: In this experimental study, 35 adult male Wistar rats were randomly divided into healthy control groups, endometriosis, endometriosis+exercise, endometriosis+omega 3, endometriosis+omega3+exercise after creating an endometriosis model. Were. The duration of training in water was 30 minutes daily until the end of the training period. At the same time, the mice received omega-3 supplementation daily in the form of gavage at a dose of 2 ml/kg. One-way analysis of variance was used to analyze the data.
Results: The results showed that the expression of BECLINE-1 and LC3 genes in the endometriosis group had a statistically significant increase compared to the healthy control group. All three groups of endometriosis+exercise, endometriosis+omega, and endometriosis+exercise+omega had a statistically significant decrease compared to the endometriosis group. The endometriosis+exercise+omega group decreased more than the other groups.
Conclusion: In general, the results of the present study indicate that the increased expression of autophagic genes produced in endometriosis can be inhibited by regular aerobic exercises such as swimming and omega-3 supplementation. Pathological disorders in autophagy with exercise and omega-3 supplementation may help improve endometriosis by regulating the expression of LC3 and Beclin-1 genes.
