Lack of marital satisfaction or increased marital conflict can lead to phenomena such as divorce, which causes the collapse of the most fundamental part of society, the family. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of couple therapy based on the theory-based reality therapy approach on promoting marital satisfaction of military couples in the selected city of Hamadan. Method: The present was a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest with a control group. The statistical population included all couples who referred to the primary school counseling center in Hamadan in the second half of 1398; formed. The samples of this study were 30 people from the mentioned community who were selected using the available sampling method and were assigned to the experimental (n = 15) and control (n = 15) groups by simple random sampling method and to the Enrich Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire. (Forous and Elson, 1993) responded. The experimental group was trained in reality therapy for 1 session per week for 1 session of 90 minutes and the control group did not receive any intervention during this period. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and analysis of covariance in SPSS-23 software. Results: The results showed that couple therapy based on the reality therapy approach based on selection theory has an effect on the marital satisfaction of military couples (P <0.01).
