The Effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on Psychological Symptoms of Affected Military Tinnitus

Introduction: This study is a randomized controlled-controlled study that evaluates the effect of cognitive-behavioral modified cognitive behavior therapy on tinnitus-associated distress, quality of well-being, psychological distress including depression and internal concentration in soldiers with tinnitus.
Methods: 65 participants were enrolled at one of the Tehran Military Hospitals and 41 completed treatment. Participants were randomly selected and received group cognitive behavioral therapy. And then they completed the measurements.
Results: Covariance analysis showed a meaningful interaction between group training and tinnitus and depression (p=0.02), and it was found that cognitive-behavioral therapy leads to further improvement of their symptoms.
Conclusion: Cognitive-behavioral therapy in group form can reduce Negative emotional disturbances associated with tinnitus such as depression.
