Relationship of personality disorders with suicidal-tendencies in a group of military soldiers

Background: the aim of study is to research the Relationship of personality disorders with suicidal-tendencies in a group of military soldiers. Methods: The subjects of this research are, 310 soldiers in Isfahan city in a military center were selected through multiphase cluster method and they completed the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory (MCMI_II) & Beck Suicide Scale Ideation (BSSI). Data was analyzed through descriptive statistical tests, Pierson coefficient of correlation and multivariable regression. Findings: The correlation results have been showed that there is a significant relationship among anti-social (r=0.60), paranoid(r=0.60), narcissist (0.44), borderline (0.69), avoidance (r=0.50), schizotypal (r=0.25), masochist (r=0.44), Negativistic (r=0.65) personality disorders with suicidal-tendencies. Results of multivariable regression showed that variance of 0.74 related to suicidal-tendencies have been predicted by personality disorders. Conclusion: this research showed that personality disorders symptom can predict for suicide and suicidal-thinking.
