Study of relationship between coping styles and mental health of soldiers

Introduction: Having the mental health and positive coping strategies of soldiers, making them immune to problems, and greater adaptation will result in military environments. The main this study was to investigate the relationship between coping strategies with mental health of soldiers. Methods: This study is a correlation research and survey method. Research community is General Staff Army soldiers (SMAJA) and 140 are available for sampling and were randomly selected. The Collection Tools data in this study is the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) and coping strategies of Lazarus and Folkman (WOCQ). Results: The results showed an overall mental health of soldiers that 31/30 is low. The problem-oriented coping style and mental health of soldiers with coefficient (0/41) there is a positive correlation, and emotion-focused coping style with coefficients (-/022) is negatively correlated with the mental health of soldiers. Conclusion: The use of problem-oriented coping style causes increasing mental health of soldiers, and people that have poor mental health, greater use of emotion-focused coping style as well.
